The strength of the union is, and always has been, an involved, active and committed membership. But we live in a global world and, building on solid membership support, we need to reach out and build strong relationships with allies in Canada and around the world.

The USW is actively participating in this campaign to bring maximum pressure on Rio Tinto to stop its union busting and exploitation of workers, and to behave as a good corporate citizen.

- 12 February 2014 Steelworkers Call on Cambodian Government to Stop Repression of Garment Workers USW calls for an end to the repression of garment workers in Cambodia. On February 9, 21 detainees began a hunger strike and 250 actions were planned at factories and workplaces around Cambodia in solidarity for the detainees.
