The Paris-based European Council of Rio Tinto, which represents Rio Tinto workers across Europe, is one of the latest international groups to support USW members locked out by Rio Tinto in Alma, QC.
Workers across Europe support the global campaign against Rio Tinto's attacks on workers and communities, Véronique Roche, European Council of Rio Tinto Secretary, states in a letter to USW leaders.
"The lock-out is an irresponsible way to behave for the company," Roche states. "Rio Tinto seems to ignore the obligations of a fair treatment as prescribed by labour law.
"Be assured, dear colleagues, of the support of all RIO TINTO European workers. All together we will be stronger in promoting the RIO TINTO worker's rights."
