Health & Safety
- District 6 Health, Safety and Compensation Committee - MISSION STATEMENT
- HONOURING WESTRAY On May 9th, 2012 we honour the memory of the 26 miners who lost their lives in the Westray mine explosion twenty years ago. They were husbands, sons, brothers, fathers and friends. They are victims for whom the law failed. This is a day to reflect on what was lost and what was learned. We will never forget them and the price they paid for going to work.

- Steelworkers District 6 Injured Workers Assistance Program As Steelworkers we strongly believe that one accident, one injury or one person struck by industrial disease is one too many. But while we strive to make our workplaces completely safe we know that we need a safety net for those that fall victim to accidents or industrial disease. Our new Steelworkers District 6 Injured Workers Assistance Program provides that much needed safety net.

- Your Job - if it feels unsafe, it likely is. Violence comes in many forms – physical and emotional – in our streets and in our schools. We are told violence has consequences. We are told respect for ourselves and others will help put an end to its brutal cycle. But what do we do about violence in our workplaces? Every year in Canada, 60 young workers die needlessly on the job and another 60,000 are hurt or seriously injured at work.
