SOAR activists were out in force across the country in support of Goodyear workers during the recent continent-wide strike.
Workers at Goodyear had been on strike for almost two months when the call came from Lynn Williams and Ken Neumann to help out. SOAR members were active on the picket lines, helped leaflet stores that carried Goodyear products and changed the minds of many shoppers about what brand of tire to buy.
Sudbury SOAR activist Julien Dionne reported that several SOAR members braved chilly weather to hand out leaflets at the local Canadian Tire and Goodyear Tire stores. “We were happy to support our brothers and sisters in their struggle for justice” said Dionne.
In a January letter, Williams and Neumann personally thanked SOAR activists for their assistance.
“None of this would have been possible without the support given by active members of SOAR…. I want to thank you and your members who participated in these public demonstrations… informing consumers about the boycott and the central issues in the dispute.”
