Talking Politics
Welcome to the USW Political Action site. Here you will find information about the various campaigns and issues affecting Steelworkers and how you can get involved to put workers’ priorities first in our political process.

We are a stronger union, more able to defend our members and advance our rights because we know the importance of politics and the legislative process.

Steelworkers know that the fight to improve working conditions, health and safety in the workplace, job security and living standards goes beyond the bargaining table and into our communities. We also know that gains aren’t made in a day or even in an election. Our work is on-going, every day of the year.

The New Democratic Party (NDP) has been at our side and consistently fought for working people from the beginning. The Party was founded in 1961 to give the labour movement full participation in the political life of this country. That link between Steelworkers and the NDP is as important today as it was then.
