9 JUNE 2009 – USW & OFL Start 17 Day Caravan for Jobs Called “DRV2WRK”

Today the jobs caravan rolled into Fort Frances to amplify the stories of families dealing with the current economic crisis. View the map each morning to see an updated version of their progress.

 June 2009

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Where will you be on June 8, 2009? That date marks the kickoff of a very important event in the life of our Union and the labour movement in Ontario.

Come join us in Kenora and Oshawa where our journey begins and where thousands of Steelworkers from across Ontario will be converging to take to the streets in a unique way.

Our caravan of unemployed workers will wind its way through community after community sharing the true story of unemployment and the devastation it has on workers, their families and all of our communities.

Like you, I am sick and tired of a government that sits on its hands while our economy shrivels and the working middle class evaporates. As Steelworkers, we have fought in every forum; at the bargaining table, in the courts, in the boardrooms, in the legislature and even occupied plants when it was necessary to do so. Now I am calling on you once again to join us and to fight for what's right.

Our Union has partnered with the OFL on this important DRV2WRK campaign.

We have a chance to force change in this province… ..come and make history with us!

Yours in solidarity,
Wayne Fraser
