Building for Tomorrow’s Jobs: Steelworkers National Policy Conference 2010

Health & Safety Highlighted
A mass National Day of Morning ceremony at Nathan Phillips Square, and the launching of the Steelworkers “New Worker Awareness” Program, will underscore the conference’s emphasis on health and safety. With 1,000 Canadians killed each year doing their job, health and safety remains a core Steelworker value.

Taking on the Economic Crisis
The economic crisis and the devastation of our manufacturing and resource sectors have given our members and bargaining tables challenges like never before. Our focus will be on facing those challenges squarely through our experience, strength and innovation.

Performance on Equity Issues
A spirited and mesmerizing dance performance will provoke an examination of workplace issues.

Global Campaigns and Partnerships
With successes such as our international Vale Inco campaign and our global Workers Uniting union, we will strive to break new ground in standing up to multinational corporations.
