Invitation to Installation of New USW International Executive Board

To: USW Local Union Presidents and Members,

On March 1, 2010, the United Steelworkers International Executive Board will be taking the Oath of Office for the 2010–2014 term. This important event in our union will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton, 655 Dixon Road, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This event will install all international officers, including the Canadian Directors: National Director Ken Neumann, Western and Northern Director Stephen Hunt, Ontario and Atlantic Canada Director Wayne Fraser, and Quebec Director Daniel Roy.

On behalf of the entire International Executive Board, I would like to extend an invitation to our Officers and Members to attend the ceremonies. Attendance at the swearing-in ceremonies is at no cost. If you or any of your members would like to attend the reception which follows, we are offering tickets at a cost of $10.00 each. For members from outside the Toronto area, we have arranged for a block of rooms at the Doubletree at a rate of $110.00 CDN per night, plus taxes. All expenses are the responsibility of the individuals attending.

Due to time constraints, we ask that attendees pre-register by notifying the USW Purchasing and Travel Department  that they are planning to attend. To do so, they can telephone, e-mail or complete the form and fax it with the requested information. This will allow the department to plan for the appropriate amount of guests. Tickets to the USW Reception should be picked up on that day in the Hotel lobby. Signage will be available to direct you. No payment is required in order to pre-register. Payment will be required to pick up the reception ticket on the day of the event.

We look forward to having you join us.

In solidarity,

Leo W. Gerard
International President

PS: Attendees from the United States are reminded that passports are now required to travel to Canada.
