Nothing’s stronger than a
WOMAN OF STEEL

NEW YEAR’S GREETINGS FROM THE DISTRICT 6 WOMEN’S COMMITTEE

THANKS MARIE
The following quote reflects the inspiration you have left us and we promise to keep pressing upward and onward.

“Women who have achieved success in the various fields of labour have won the victory for us, but unless we all follow up and press onward the advantage will be lost. Yesterday’s successes will not dofor today!”
(Nellie McClung)

The District 6 Women’s Committee would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families all the best in the New Year. The year 2009 has been an extremely difficult year for many of our members and their families but we have persevered and will continue to fight for all working families in Canada. Under the strong leadership of Director Wayne Fraser, we have taken on many battles and challenges.

Director Fraser’s vision for the Women of Steel has had no boundaries and his commitment to the women of this union will continue to give us a stronger voice and opportunities beyond our greatest expectations.

Now is the time to reflect on what we have accomplished in the past year and what we hope to achieve in the year 2010. As women of steel activists we are acutely aware of the struggles we have with balancing our home life and union life. Enjoy
the year 2010 with your family because without their support we would not be able
to do the work we that do within the union.

Happy New Year’s from: THE DISTRICT 6 WOMEN’S COMMITTEE

Congratulations to Marie Kelly — Assistant Director USW District 6
It is with the utmost pride yet sadness that in the year 2010 we will be losing one of our strongest mentors and advocates the Women of Steel in District 6 has ever had an opportunity to work with hand in hand.

Marie was elected at the end of November to the position of Secretary-Treasurer for the Ontario Federation of Labour and will be leaving us in early January. Marie’s innovative ideas, passion for equality and un-fledging support enlightened all who worked with her. Her passion and commitment to all members of the Steelworkers will be missed and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.

Terri, Dianne, Norma, Lina, Wanda, Nicole, Mary Lou, Cindy, Anita, Susan, Lynne, Carolle , Roxanne , Marlene, & Carrie
