About USW Health & Safety
The USW is the health and safety union. We provide leadership, advice and direction to members and local unions, government and employers, on health and safety at work, stress prevention, and protecting injured workers. Experienced USW health and safety staff work with local unions and staff to reduce stress, defend members, advise on workers' compensation matters, and negotiate for better health and safety conditions.
The USW is the environment union. Our success at improving health and safety has taught us the importance of making the link to the environment and our community. USW health and safety staff, together with trained local activists, can help members deal with risks and hazards at work and in the community, educate employee health and safety committee members, and challenge employers and government to insure safer and healthier workplaces and a clean environment.
The USW represents workers in many dangerous occupations across the country including steel making, forestry, mining and smelting. We also represent workers in factories, universities, warehouses, assembly lines and others. We have expertise in all kinds of tough places. We know what it means to fight for your rights.
