Let’s celebrate the first legislation on paid domestic-violence leave in any Canadian jurisdiction! On November 25, Manitoba announced changes to the Employment Standards Code that would give victims of domestic violence the right to time off work without fear of job loss. This is the first legislation directly resulting from the Canadian Labour Congress's survey on the impact of domestic violence on the workplace. Congratulations to the Manitoba Federation of Labour for their work in helping this come to fruition.
