USW Cares: Community Matters

There are many things which make up a community; a sense of belonging and a chance to participate are among the two most important.

The Hamilton Steelworkers Area Council has had the privilege of taking part in many events throughout Hamilton and the one common thread, whether it be In the Keith community, the Sherman Hub, Crown Point, Davis Creek or on the Hamilton Mountain, is the sense of belonging, engagement and active participation by the residents. It shines through as an example of what community really means.

Today we (the Steelworkers) had the opportunity to work with the Rosedale Community in celebrating the Rosedale Pool and the Rosedale area by holding a barbecue for several hundred children and their parents. The number of community volunteers was inspiring, they should be proud of the work they are doing. We are proud for them.

Hamilton is a great city made even greater with the involvement of so many of its citizens and we are proud to be part of it because to Hamilton Steelworkers “Community Matters.”
