Virtual FCEF Project Applications Welcome During COVID-19

USW Family and Community Education Fund

Physical distancing and stay-at-home measures have made it hard for our members and our local unions.

The Family and Community Education Fund (FCEF) can help. Until June 30, 2020, any local in Canada can apply to fund a project to help its members, families and communities stay connected in these challenging times.

For example, your local can to apply for FCEF funding to:

  • Help purchase web-based tools to hold virtual social gatherings and meetings (or temporarily borrow one of the GoToMeeting credentials that the fund has access to)
  • Buy a subscription to online lessons (in music, dance, learning a new language, etc.) to share with all local-union members
  • Hire a teacher or tutor in your community to set up online reading groups or lead other activities for members’ children
  • Hire an instructor to run an online physical fitness course for members and their families
  • Support a project to help laid-off members who don’t have computers get access to information about support programs, jobs and other important resources

For more information or to discuss project ideas, please contact your district education co-ordinator or Eric Delparte, Fund Co-ordinator, at or by text or phone at 705-207-1691.
