FCEF Application Deadline Fast Approaching

The Family and Community Education Fund (FCEF) wants to fund your next membership engagement event. January 22, 2021, is our next project deadline for initiatives costing more than $5,000!

With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing, local unions are getting more creative than ever with supporting Steelworkers and their families. Has there been a lay-off in your workplace? Are you trying to increase solidarity within your local union? Look no further than the Family and Community Education Fund.

The FCEF has recently funded projects like:

  • Virtual movie screenings of the Canadian trade unionist film Stand!
  • Online French language classes at a community college for new and young activists, their family members and friends.
  • An injured workers’ webinar series for union members on short and long-term disability leaves.

Contact your District Education Co-ordinator or Gabriele Simmons, the FCEF Co-ordinator, for support with developing your application. We’re here to help at any stage of the application process. Apply now!

Not yet a contributing local to the Family and Community Education Fund? Joining is easy! Make a motion to join the FCEF at your next membership meeting and begin remitting 1% of dues already collected to the Fund.
