PITTSBURGH – The United Steelworkers (USW) and the National Executive Council of the Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) signed a historic merger joining the two unions on December 10.
This brings together the 12,000 TWU members and the 225,000 USW members in Canada with an agreement that includes strong, mutual commitments around collective bargaining, education, organizing and legislative action.
TWU members voted 73.7% in favour of joining the USW in a referendum vote in November. The two unions formed a a strategic alliance in 2010.
