Unifor’s Destructive Actions and their Impact on the Canadian Labour Movement

The Jan. 16 decision by Unifor to disaffiliate from the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) is both regrettable and disappointing.

Immediately after its disaffiliation, Unifor launched a raid upon the membership of UNITE HERE Local 75 in Toronto, making a bad situation fundamentally worse. This raid follows Unifor’s failed attempt to raid the membership of the Amalgamated Transit Union in Toronto last year.

The position of the United Steelworkers is clear: Unifor must cease its raiding activities and return to the CLC.

This section of our website collects communications from our union about this situation, as well as related material from the CLC and other organizations.
