Union Leaders Call for Immediate Action on Laurentian University Crisis


SUDBURY – Union leaders representing thousands of Sudbury working families will hold a news conference Thursday to outline immediate measures needed to address the crisis at Laurentian University and throughout the post-secondary education system.

Union leaders will lay out the devastating short-term and long-term effects of the program cuts at Laurentian, including the profound impact on students and the damage to businesses and to economic and social development in Sudbury and other northern communities that will lose hundreds of jobs and tens of millions in annual economic activity.

The union representatives also will outline solutions that must be taken to address the crisis at Laurentian and in the post-secondary education system overall.
